Kazaviti is perhaps the most beautiful and picturesque mountain village of the island. It is 20 km from Limenas and 4 km from Prinos. It is divided into Mikro and Megalo Kazaviti, which are 1 km apart. Kazaviti means the house of wine as it got its name from the Latin words casa which means house and vitus which means wine. They are also known as Mikros and Megalos Prinos respectively.
Typical in Kazaviti is the architecture of stone houses, with slate roofs, wooden balconies and painted ceilings. The houses have been left untouched by time as they began to be abandoned since 1960. In recent years, however, they began to be repaired and maintained by their owners.
Kazaviti has lush vegetation and narrow cobbled streets away from the sounds of everyday life. The area is famous for its good meat, vineyards and wine. Under the plane trees you will find traditional taverns and cafes.
Following the road from Mikro Kazaviti you will reach the monastery of Agios Panteleimonas, a nunnery that celebrates on July 27th.
